CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A much-anticipated retailer is about to make its debut in South End as part of the ongoing revamp of Atherton Mill. High-profile design and lifestyle brand West Elm will open its second Charlotte location on Nov. 14, following a grand-opening event the prior evening.

The store, at more than 11,000 square feet, will showcase West Elm's holiday assortment as well as its collection of modern home decor and accessories. There will be dedicated space for products from local artists, too, and customers can utilize the retailer's in-house design services.

In the meantime, blowout and styling salon Drybar and jewelry store The Golden Carrot will be the next retailers to join the lineup at the complex with openings set for this Friday.

And Crescent Communities says it is welcoming the first residents at Novel Atherton, the Charlotte-based developer's 346-unit, mid-rise apartment community on the site.
